Young Guns Official Rules
The Young Guns 2008 Online Nationwide TEEN Battle of the Bands & Songwriting Contest is open to musicians performing any form of popular music, including but not limited to rock, alternative, blues, country, R&B, and gospel.
Employees of Catawba College, their families, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not eligible.
Battle of the Bands Eligibility
For the purposes of the contest, a band is considered to be a musical ensemble having two or more members who perform simultaneously.
At least half of the members of a band must be enrolled as high-school students as of April 1, 2008 and be residents of the United States of America. In addition, no member of a band may be older than 19 as of April 1, 2008.
Young Guns will verify the eligibility of all entrants making the final round of the contest. Bands not meeting all requirements will be disqualified.
Winners must return an affidavit of eligibility/recording rights/publicity release within 3 days of notification. Failure to sign and return such affidavit or provision of false/inaccurate information therein will result in disqualification.
Songwriting Contest Eligibility
Each song submitted must be the original work of the contestant.
At least half of the writers of a song must be enrolled as high-school students as of April 1, 2008 and be residents of the United States of America. In addition, no songwriter may be older than 19 as of March 1, 2008.
Young Guns will verify the eligibility of all entrants making the final round of the contest. The song of any writer not meeting all requirements will be disqualified.
While songs may have multiple co-writers, the name of only one songwriter may be submitted per song. This should be the primary songwriter or the songwriter who will serve as the representative at the ASCAP I Create Music Expo if selected as the winner of the Young Guns songwriting contest.
Winners must return an affidavit of eligibility/recording rights/publicity release within 3 days of notification. Failure to sign and return such affidavit or provision of false/inaccurate information therein will result in disqualification.
The winning songwriter must provide written permission from a parent or legal guardian to travel to the ASCAP I Create Music Expo. That parent or legal guardian must then travel with the winner to the event.

Deadline for Battle of the Bands entry and voting is April 15, 2008. Deadline for Songwriting Contest entry and voting is March 15, 2008.
Contest void where prohibited. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
Entrance registration fee is non-refundable.
Young Guns is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, stolen, or misappropriated entries or for faulty file uploads accompanying online entries.
Entry and registration constitute acceptance of and willingness to abide by all contest rules.
All contest decisions are final and not subject to reconsideration or appeal.
Each entry must not infringe any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties.
The organizers of Young Guns 2008 reserve the right to modify any and all contest rules and deadlines at its sole discretion as circumstances warrant.
Prizes are provided by sponsors and not the responsibility of Young Guns or Catawba College.
Each entrant agrees to protect, indemnify, defend and save the officers, directors, employees and agents of Catawba College and the organizers of this contest, as well as its sponsors and affiliates, harmless from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, loss, cost liabilities, injury, expenses and judgments arising out of or occurring in connection with this contest.
